My name is Junhan Li, and I am an undergraduate student in the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. During the three years of undergraduate study at Rensselaer Polytechnic School, I was actively reminded of the duties of an engineer. I conclude that we engineers need to change the world through technological innovations. My main area of research is to study the effects of various uncertainties on machine life. I mainly study the relation between prevention of small cracks and non-deterministic factors on the health and fatigue of materials. I am currently at the Intelligent Structural Systems Lab (ISSL) led by Professor Fotis. Currently, I’ve mainly analyze and preprocess the data collected by a sensor. The ultimate goal is to achieve minimal casualties and property damage due to non-deterministic factors with complex systems such as aircraft.
