His current research interests include quantum algorithms for aerospace applications, with a focus on quantum optimization and quantum-based approaches to inverse problems and uncertainty quantification. He is also interested in the use of quantum computing for material discovery, as well as quantum-centric supercomputing.

Bio

George Chnitidis is a PhD student at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the department of Mechanical, Aerospace and Nuclear (MANE) engineering, affiliated with the Intelligent Structural Systems Laboratory (ISSL). He holds an MSc in Computational Science and Engineering from Technical University of Munich, with specialization in quantum computing and computational physics. He also holds an integrated BSc/ MEng from Democritus University of Thrace. Previously, he worked on quantum simulation-based optimization at BMW, computational physics software at Cadence/ BETA CAE Systems, including finite element and meshless numerical methods for CFD and manufacturing applications. He also has experience in human-robot interaction at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), combining augmented reality with reinforcement learning-based methods for robot programming, as well as reinforcement learning for adaptive control in production systems.
